- One Plastic Sheet Protector Sleeve
- Packing Tape
- Orange, Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow, Pink, and Red Pony Beans OR Foam circles
The best part about squishy bags?? EASY set up!!!
First, print off the Valentines Heart templates (found here). There are several versions. You can let your kiddos match colors, count, or practice addition!
You can print the counting hearts and use the supplies mentioned above, and have kids work on their number recognition, counting skills, and colors all in one.
OR you can print the color matching Hearts
The TPT Pack includes addition with in 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s.
What To Do
Measure a piece of cardboard to be a little smaller than the Ziploc bag. Then tape a sheet protector to one side, making sure to leave the top of the sleeve open. Then lay cardboard onto Ziploc bag and tape all sides of cardboard to the OUTSIDE of the bag, making sure the sheet protector is on the see through side and is open at the top. (See video below)
Open up Ziploc and fill with about half a bottle of hair gel, then throw in pony beads, be sure to count how many you need based on what activity you chose! Or other supplies if you are just decorating!! If you are doing the counting activity, be sure to throw in extra beads so kids have to actually count them!
Spread out the gel, evenly, in the bag and making sure all the air gets out. Seal up your Ziploc. If you do not trust your little, you might put packing tape over the zip part of the bag, just to make sure you do not have a mess on your hands!
Try to move the pieces around, if it seems a little too hard, add more gel.
Have your kiddos work those fine motor muscles while practicing important skills!
Be on the look out for more Holiday squishy bag printouts and ideas to come!!! (These will be added to the Month to Month Squishy Bags Pack at no extra cost, once they are undated you will be able to download a new version for free!) So get it now while it is cheap!!!
