Funfetti Cupcake Sensory Playdough

If you are looking for a super fun playdough activity this Funfetti Cupcake Sensory Playdough might just be what you are looking for! My daughter is a bit obsessed with creating desserts and all things vainlla, we even have to get kid cookbooks at the library and “read” them before bed! So, when they were getting a little bored with their normal playdough play, I came up with this on the fly.

The best part about this activity is the fact that most of the things you need, you already have to provide an awesome sensory experience for your littles!

What You Will Need

  1. White Playdough  and Red (Or any other color)
  2. Colored Rice
  3. Cupcake Liners
  4. Birthday Candles

A Little More Info On What You Will Need

  • For the playdough, I think homemade playdough stays softer so much longer than store bought and it is super easy to make. I always make my own. There are so many different recipes out there, but I use this one…. Homemade Playdough Recipe . I even added a little vanilla to my white playdough so it smelled like a bakery was cooking up some awesome cupcakes!

  • Most of you, OK maybe not most, but SOME of you might have colored rice laying around. I made this rice about 3 years ago and have thrown it in the water table a few times every winter, when the kids are starting to get stir crazy! If you have it, it makes this cupcake playdough even more fun, my kids used it as sprinkles and then it got mixed into the “batter” and a became funfetti type of cake! You could just use actual sprinkles, but the rice is a little bigger and heaver and really didn’t make too much of a mess! If you have never made colored rice, its super easy I use this technique… Colored Rice Recipe
  • You can use normal paper cupcake liners. I use the silicone ones. I had bought these to make homemade lunchables so I had these laying around already! They really are pretty cheap too, you can find some similar ones here….. Silicone Cupcake Liners

Now that you have what you need, the fun can really start!!
