My kids love to bake and play kitchen. I found several cookie activities on Pinterest and thought I would give this cookie color sorting activity a try! I love any activity that I can make, with supplies I already have, and both my 4.5 and 2 year old can do!! With small adaptions!!
What You Will Need
- Different Colored Construction Paper (or subscribe to download a free printable template)
- Paper Plates
- Glue
- Scissors
- Cardstock
- Cookie Tray
- Spatula
- Sharpie Marker
First thing, decide what colors you want your kiddos to sort. Take different colored construction paper and cut a circle to glue into the middle of a paper plate. If you are also wanting your kiddos to count the “chips” flip your paper plate over and write numbers on the back of each plate!
Next, Cut small brown paper circles and glue onto cardstock, then cut out again. This makes the cookies stiffer, which you need them to be so kids can use their spatula to scoop up and sort their cookies!
You will then need to cut small “chips” out of the matching construction paper to glue onto your cookies!! You can also get the kiddos to help with making the cookies!! They are pretty easy to assemble!! If you are wanting to work on counting the chips as well. Make sure you are paying attention to the number of colored chips you put on your cookies! I did numbers 1-6. I just made sure I had 2 or three cookies per number!
If you want to skip the above steps you can just print this cookie printable by signin up below, just make sure you print them off on card stock!!
Spread your cookies out into rows and have your kids start scooping and sorting!!! Be sure to watch the video below to see this in action!!
